Significant improvement to valve response time of 75% at LNG plant

Customer: Woodside LNG

Location: Karatha, West Australia

Requirement: After initially operating LNG trains 4 and 5, Woodside LNG found that the Karatha project had actuators on the nine 24 inch stroke and the anti-surge valves (56 x 36inch) which protected the plant’s compressors were not meeting their performance requirements. These limitations were impacting the plant’s operations and ability to supply the clean burning natural gas that today’s power customers need.

Solution: Having worked with Woodside for many years on other projects, CCI was given the opportunity to demonstrate the benefits of the fast actuation, reliability and accuracy of its QuickTrak actuators. As the units had to be installed on existing equipment, this required several months of Engineering analysis to ensure the QuickTrak actuators could be fitted to the valves. The initial start-up test demonstrated a significant 75% improvement to the valves response time; which dramatically improves the customers’ plant efficiency and enhances the plants availability. CCI is proud to support Woodside LNG in improving plant efficiency, availability and in meeting the global demands for clean and efficient plant operation.
